Well, excuse me for requesting something more than empty, unsubstantiated assertions. If all you want is simply to call names, then you needn't worry that we'll ever get into any sort of conversation!

You've been playing and listening to music for a long while. Seems a pity that you won't share some of that with us.

some guy you really are boring me.
NB, I am not calling names, and you would probably find my music boring old stuff so what would be the point of discussing it with you.
I repeat for the last time hoping that you can understand

"You really are very touchy and I have no intention of getting into an argument with you, I have seen some of your posts on other forums and realise that it is pointless, btw are you a musician or a composer???

The use of interesting instrumentation in this piee brings to mind Stockhausen's Helikopter-Streichquartett.

Funny how a "certain someone" hasn't responded to JHC's rather subtle last message AND I totally agree with Corno's comment about dental work without gas or needle.

Robin - not sure what "such a drag" means in Australian English but I think its meaning is different to that spoken in Canada!!

Ok, how about 'you guys are a downer.'

Wait, that has other connotations as well.

Hmm.

I just meant that there is (imo) a lack of positive direction in this thread.

Never mind. lol

Dearest RoJo,

I opened my big, fat gob and really plunged this thread into an obverse ascension - My sincerest apologies for this unfortunate turn of events :eek::eek:

Time for a snifter of a certain single malt :alc::alc::alc:

Anyone for *A Waltz For 100 Chainsaws* by Freddie *Riptorn* Krueger?

No need to apologize to me, guys. You're both certainly entitled to your opinions, and are free to express them here, be they positive or negative. As is everyone.

I guess it's just that I'm in agreement with some guy (who seems to have been on the receiving end of most of the harshness in this thread,) in that I don't see the need to denigrate a piece of music. At least not without some reason why other than "I don't like it," or "this is rubbish."

But then, perhaps my comments regarding you guys being a drag is equally, or perhaps more reprehensible. Therefore, my apologies.

*sigh*

Anyway, perhaps we'd be best to move on.

I do agree with J.H.C. in that I think Margaret has got us headed in an interesting new direction; ha, I actually went on the hunt for a classical work using a saw, any kind of saw, and came up empty handed. Darn it.

I'll keep looking. :)

If you go to youtube and type in 'car horn orchestra', the second result isa news report about a concerto for ute horn and orchestra by Australian professor Mike Atherton. Not quite saws, but still interesting enough. I haven't been able to find a full version, though.

Margaret it was very well done and I suspect they were musical saws https://www.musicalsaw.com/catalog/order1.php which are musical instruments, But perhaps they were genuine old rip saws:grin: anyway at least it was music which is more than could be said for the con job of the Metro Gnomes ;)
