    lady Jazz instrumentalists

Without searching too hard I can think of Lil Harding, Nina Simone and Diana Krall-all pianists, as jazz players.(I am not counting jazz singers).
Are there any ladies who have played other instruments, such as, saxes or brass.
    There must be plenty ?

Lisa Graham, Alto Sax, Betty Smith Tenor(?) Sax, Found a few trumpet players, not how many, if any are jazz players though, I'll continue the search tomorrow.

    OLDUDE pics

Since interest in this thread seems to have wained, and because the Gallery function is not currently operating, perhaps I can use the space to show some of my photos and painting photos?
For example the full painting my "Dinosaur" post was derived from.

I've pondered for a while who i can think of as the earliest famous jazz instrumentalist. It seems there weren't many prominent ones before Carla Bley and Alice Coltrane had their breakthrough. I guess Ethel Smith if you count her as jazz, but there ought to be more i'm just not thinking about...
