    R.I.P. Johnny Dankworth

He died on February 6th, he might not have been the most well known of Jazz musicians, but he was cosidered a pioneer of modern Jazz.

The Stables venue he owned with his wife Dame Cleao Laine had a 40th anniversary concert at the week-end. Despite his death she appeared to announce the news and then sang, he would have liked that.

    May he rest in peace.

    Hi Margaret.
I have always been a fan of Johnny and Cleo.
I was quite sad to play a recent CD made with Danny Moss in which his ability with his alto seemed to have diminished noticeably and this can only have been due to his poor health.

    Cheers John

Yes John, unfortunately his illness did effect him. Their venue is just a few miles from us. I saw them both at the Paldium in London, some time ago but both absolutely brilliant.
