Okay ...
The mic is integrated into the base of the webcam (just below the lens) and situated within an arms length from where I am sitting.
Will give this a try later on today.

Mike, I only paid NZ$25 for my head set, I find they save on desk clutter, if this takes off a protocol would be useful, the last time I used it you could see who was plugged is it still the same?? I think voice only would be better
Have you managed to get this idea off the ground

Not yet Teddy, mutually convenient times can be a bit awkward. anything over 4 hours time difference starts to make things difficult. When we in Uk are thinking of bed the East coast USA is just getting home from work, mid west will be mid afternoon, west coast early afternoon, New Zealand it's tomorrow morning, Australia probably just getting up.
Not so bad for those of us retired or working at home, but otherwise it can be inconvenient, weekends could be the answer for some but family commitments and things like shopping or leisure acivities may need to be taken into account.
Initially I think make individual contacts and maybe start groups covering a few time zones, say 4 to 6 hours, Europe and Africa, North and South Americas, Australia, New Zealand and Asia, and work our way up from that.
A Europe/Africa 4 hour spread would cover from Western Russia to UK and include all of Africa and most of the middle east.
North and South America cover about 7 hours if you include Brazil and Alaska
Australia and New Zealand cover 4 hours, this period also covers Japan, Part of China and part of Eastern Russia, extending an hour further west brings in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia etc.
Any comments?
Cheers MIKE.

That sounds a sensible suggestion to me and if held say once a week or fortnight should not be a problem
I am referring to the weekend

sounds well thought out and weekends once a fortnight should be workable. I am self employed so have a little more freeway as to when I work. I reality I do have problems with communicating with my relatives in California and do rely on e-mail a lot. Its an exciting project.

I think I might be up for it.
P.S. Mike, I sent you an invitation on skype, not sure if you got it.
Mat, yes I did get it, not seen you on line yet though
It's because I'm often 'invisible'. If I go on skype it's usually around 9pm. I'll try to fit in though, if there's a date set for the international MIMF chat.
How is this idea progressing? Have you made contact with the living?
teddy
Wow I haven't used skype in a while. I'll see if I can get back to it.
