Johnny Maz - keyboard player from canada

    Hi all,

I'm Johnny Maz, keyboard player from the Ottawa region in Canada.
I've been playing keyboards for many many years, and I'm involved in several projects :
First, there's Code 18 (www.code18.ca), a new progressive-rock band that just released a 4 track demo. You can listen to it on Code 18 web site. Comments are welcome !
I'm also involved with Journey to Boston and Flashpoint, 2 cover bands. They're mainly playing in the Ottawa region.
You can find all the information on my own web site : www.johnnymaz.ca

    Thanks

    Johnny

    Hi Johnny and welcome !

I just returned from Code 18 site. Good stuff very well performed. I like the way you mix your sounds with the rest of the band. Good organ solo of yours in "they took it all", you rock! Nice atmosphere and arrangement on "underlude", but I waited for a more specific melody line to raise the thing up...
Is ther an Ohm Sympthom sounding anywere in your demo? It passed my mind...
The only thing that I expected better was your piano sound. More solid and bright..
Don't get me wrong here, I like the work it's very good, just my taste on piano..
I was myself involved in progressive rock, I still got all LPs of YES, GENESIS, PINK FLOYD, AMON DUUL to name a few, and I was playin' Hammond/minimoog/crumar str and composing with a band called "ENEMA" (....from Franck Zappa's Illinoi Enema bandit) from 1977 to 1981. Great time then, many concerts...sadly no records...(Greece....) only somewere in my atic one/two cassete tapes..That's life.

Enjoy your time here, you will find great friends and distingushed people and lots of things to discuss.

    Cheers
    Panos

PS In this century I like OPETH and Firewind...

    Hello people

Thank you for the nice welcome.

And thank you, Ghekorg7, for your comments. It's too bad that there is no trace left of Enema.
And what is a Ohm Sympthom ? I googled it and found nothing. ??

    Hi Johnny !
    Thanks for reply.
Symthom is a VSTi synth from OhmForce(google search), you can hear it in Dream Theater's albums and......(sorry)...Madona's
It is now free download so go and get it ! (you will need to register, but has a meaning 'cause users exchange sounds..among other benefits).

If you still can find it, tell me so, I 'll try to post here the link, or I'll e-mail you (private) a copy of .exe.

    Cheers

By the way witch keyboards I listen to in Code 18, your organ comes from a synth or from itself ?

All the keyboard sounds come from my Roland XV-2020 with expansion board SRX-07 and my Yamaha S90. The organ sounds some from the SRX-07.

    Hi Maz, Thanks.
I've got Yamaha Motif ES6/Korg SG1D as mother. So we have something in common - S90-

Maybe we should try to continue this in another sub-forum(here), for others to read, for here is the welcome one... I do not know.. the right person to tell us may be Krummhorn..
