Shostakovich Jazz Suite No 2 for Organ?

    Hi,
I play a fairy comprehensive 3 manual organ and would really like to give this piece a go. Does anybody know of a publisher or, if not, do you think it would work for organ if I transcripted from a piano score? Any advice would be greatly appreciated (I've only been playing about 3 years)

    Cheers
    Paul

    Hi Paul and welcome !

I'm a great admirer of Dmitri Shostakovich and for me he's one of the best of all times.
This suite is great, of course you can transcribe it for organ if you know how to....witch voice goes where and things like that...

Any work of music can be played on organ, I tell you that as a pianist, organist and multi keybordist as well as a composer and arranger.

But I think it's too early to be involved in such a task after only 3 years of practicing and especialy with Shostakovich music witch is more complex than mainstream stuff. Exept of course if you are a very exeptional and talanted player /arranger with deep knowledge and feel of this kind of music, so forgive me.

Shostakovich was a great admirer of Beethoven and many off his treasures can be found on former's 15 Symphonies. Keep that in mind if you start something

Anyway, give it a try and see how it goes....
Post a PDF with your trials, lets say on the first page and we'll discuss it if you like..

    Kind regards
    Panos

    Hi Paul H,

You're a brave soul, dear fellow organist...Now, if I only could get more access to the Cavaille-Coll organ at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory I'm already granted 3 hours/week. If you have a decent piano transcription you could pull it off with some quick and nimble and jazzy thinking

    Cheers,
