You are speaking of a field that is saturated with musicians trying to do the same thing as you. May I suggest, be truthful to yourself and your music. Be original and avoid musical cliches. Try to get in with Ad agencies and whip out a few commercials. Usually from there people will hear your work. A lot can be said about your competence in a 30 second add.

Thanks sooo much for the advice, its greatly appreciated...I have been looking into music for advertising (well more into the ways of getting my music heard, by advertising companies!) So to hear that from you Rob, reassures me that I'm on the right track (idea's wise..)
Also I know some british shows like 'skins' like unsigned musicians to put forward their music. So I'm definitely going to try this, having never been confident enough with my work, to do so before...
Once again thanks for the advice guys

Greetings Charlotte,
I agree with rbmcw where in order to stand out above the "crowd" you need to really show your uniqueness. Just like any business, you need to find out what makes you unique-what does Charlotte have to offer that no one else has. As you know, there are lots of cats who can do what you do- the one's who are successful are extremely passionate and stand out because of their uniqueness.
And of course you need to get out there and network with folks in your world.
