My next door neighbour when I was in business was a 2nd hand dealer and gave me first pick of any LPs, the last one I picked up was The Dutch Swing Collage a 2LP set for NZ$2.00

    Hi Colin,

I recently renewed acquaintance with "THe Dutch Swing College" (Thanks to a comment by Margaret) and was blown away.
When I checked Amazon I was amazed at the price for what must be out-of-print Albums.
    Cheers John

PS. However I'm thinking of getting their 1955 Cd (20 tracks) for £8-97

They are well worth it John, loved seeing them live. I know the line up has changed though.

    Hi Margaret,
Yester-een whilst messing about on some weird old jazz forum (no, I havn't had any of teddy's falling down water) I listened to them on Spotify for a couple of hours.
I was amazed at the wide range of jazz music that came across and how uniformly excellent was the quality. (And thats from an ex-quality systems controller)

    Cheers John

I don't know about you lot but I seem locked into a time warp with jazz the 20's up to say the 50's roughly, as in classical the modern stuff goes down a road that I don't want to follow

    Hi John

I know what you mean, they have done a wide range. teddy's falling down water? lol must try some.

Colin, my hubby says he doesn't do much of the modern stuff, most of his listening is 20's -60's.

I find the same with rock and pop music. Is it becuase I was growing up in the era? Maybe it is because in the old days musicians tended to learn to play an instrument when they were young, played with various people while they learnt and honed their skills and progressed from there. Pubs, clubs, coffoe bars and church halls were all venues for them, paid or unpaid. To many musicians, not to mention pop groups are manufactured these days and this seemed to start in the sixties. Now that you have to have a licence before any music is played it will only make things worse. It is harder for e few people to get together in a public place and jam, whatever their genre.

We were invited to a Big Band club, not quite the same thing. I think a good Jazz club would be nice. let me know when and where teddy, unfortunately all I can offer you is a rubber band.
