I notice Colin's grown some stuble on his chiney chin chin ... despite this his schnoz remains unchanged ... not even a hairy-wart to be glamoured by.

I didn't realise he wrote so much ;) who are the Sym by ?
1, 3 and 4 are by the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jaap van Zweden. 2 has the same conductor, but is played by the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Holland.

I see on some forums he is rated as a very weak orchestrator? not being a composer I couldn't comment but they sound good to me, I only have two sym sets Solti and Abbado the Solti is the best IMO

This is actually my first time hearing his symphonies, they sound fine to me. I bought this set primarily for his chamber music - I've heard quite a bit of it performed live and its excellent stuff.

Yeah, I tried starting up a thread about CD purchases in the classical music section, but it didn't really take off.

I don't usually respond to this type of thread (no offence intended) unless it develops into a good discussion which this could have, but I will leave it as is.
