Gord, just wondering what a "sally ann" refers to. Is it like our "99 cents" discount stores in New York and other American cities?

Jumping the gun, my next Cd to download will be Johhny Varro Quartet with John Erik Kellso on trumpet, Nicki Parrott (b) and Joe Ascione (dr).
I say download deliberately because the price of CDs has shot up recently in the U.K.

That is ridiculous John, they have just about done their dash we used to pay NZ$30-40 for a top CD now they are NZ$10-20 and in "The Warehouse" from 97cents to $10-12 I mean the normal CD not SACD
I down load all my CDs and have not purchased one for at least 3-4 years

Free would be great if legal.
Please point me in the right direction for free jazz.

Cheers John

Hi JOhn,

I download music for free from Spotify, I have been told it is legal. I use the programme 4 Freecorder, it works very well.

Margaret, I was on the point of ordering Saxophone Colossus from spotify, but I will hang fire while I investigate your idea. Might save myself five pounds.

Was going to buy Saxophone Colossus from spotify until I noticed the individual track price was 5 pounds for 5 tracks and the album price was 8 pounds for 5 tracks. The catch? You can not buy all the tracks on the album individually. I will shop around

Have you tried www.wolfgangsvault.com?

And.... ta-da! I just bought my first c.d. player. Yes, that's true.
I've been cassettes for so long, you couldn't make your own c.d.'s for a long time, so I never went that way.
But now that I'm playing again I have to play friends' new music to learn some songs.
It plays c.d.'s and cassettes with a radio and tapes off all of them.
That way I can tape a c.d. song I like and use it with the rest of my equipment, radio tunes too.
That's not a lot. I still play guitar and sing more than anything else.

Back in the cassette era, manufacturers were selling you the equipment to make tapes yourself.
Taping off the radio wasn't an issue about "free music".
Using lasers ups every stress level, manufacturing, recording, listening... all this propogation of C.I.A. spy technology.
But... but... that's okay, it's all about what you like, isn't it?

There you go teddy  another rip off (not even decent quality codec) and it has been going on for years, I have rebelled after building a collection of approaching 2000 Cd's @ an average price of $30+ I now have no guilt in downloading free music :)
