    "Everybody digs Bill Evans" 2CDs
"The Essence of Charlie Parker" 2CDs

I never really got away with either of these musicians but for £10 the pair I thought I'd give them another go

John could you send me a couple of seeds from your Money Tree
I quite like the bits I have heard of Bill Evans but tend to be with you on some of Parkers music

hi colin, yes i do like coltrane, i have about 15 of his albums.i am one of the rare individuals who likes just about everything. i can listen to bunk johnson and i can listen to cecil taylor, and enjoy them both.my favorite kind of jazz though is west coast big band jazz like bill holman or bob florence. back to coltrane, i love his early stuff on prestige or blue note, but will listen to his impulse recordings also.a lot of fans consider him a genius, and i fall into that group. gord

Hi Colin. I know at first glance this inclusion of Elton John with my two ELP purchases does seem a little odd. What happened was that Amazon shipped all 3 cds together in one order, even though I had purchased them at different times[obviously the two ELP works}. I will say this, however, I have always liked Elton John, especially during his earlier more serious period when he seemed to be more concerned with politics and societal issues. On this album, the standout song for me is--and always has been--"Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters". I've also enjoyed his first album and Tumbleweed Connection, both of which feature some beautiful ballad writing from Bernie Taupin. Well, I've tried to defend myself, but can well understand your chagrin. I do hope that your wife is feeling better and has been able to return home. Peace--Steve

Steve, I too have some Elton John. I partcularly like Yellow Brick Road. Colin will probably no longer speak to me after that declaration.

Yeah Teddy, I guess I'm in Colin's dog-house too, as I like a lot of EJ's stuff, especially his output from earlier and more serious phase of his career { "Burn Down the Mission" and "The King is Dead" readily come to mind}. Given the vast differences in tastes and of opinions is what keeps these discussions so interesting.
