    Yo, CD

I'm thinking it might be more related to your ISP ... did you ever have this problem before your last move? I always get on here the very first try everytime ... the server does not give any preferential treatment to those of us with admin rights. I've heard of instances where Frederik has had delays in getting logged on, and he lives within 50 miles of where the physical server is located.

There were times when I was forced to use Cox Cable (due to a stupid monopoly contract with the city in which I live) that I had connectivity issues, creepy crawly s-l-o-w internet connections, dropped service and the like. I bailed with Cox when Qwest installed FOX lines in my neighborhood ... my DSL connection is three times faster than Cox's cable.

I too, also exclusively use Firefox ... the feature for storing login information is very handy, and I can manage them quite nicely from within the browser.
I also routinely change all my passwords on the sites I frequent at least once every 90 days. It's a pain in the wazoo, but it just makes good sense to me. I also keep all ports on my firewall closed except for those that are absolutely necessary. If I haven't "authorized" the use of a particular port, the intruder simply doesn't get in.

So does IE, but I do find Firefox a bit quicker, one to keep clear of is Google Chrome I had a lot of problems with it but it was the fastest yet

I never change my p/w in fact I use the same one for about 90% of sites, it's only when a site won't accept it that I change, but then I am the only one using the PC, I changed from Norton to McAfee and have absolutely no problems with security etc

    Blessed Krummhorn ,

Yes, I had this problem before I moved but I never really gave it much of a second thought. I'll give a holler to my ISP. Net service in Moscow City is Fiber Optic and hyperfast - Yeowsa!!!!!!!!

    Cheers,

One can also check their own connection speed using speedtest dot net.

This is just about the fastest loading site I use, and that includes the commercial ones I use for my work. I use Internet Explorer as unfortunately one of the major sites for my job is only campatible with it. I have Firefox but very rarely use it.

I did try eliminating IE altogether, but for some reason that screws up parts of Control Panel which use it.

I've also downloaded Foxedit to deal with PDFs, but some sites will only download PDFs if Adobe reader is present. Ya can't win!

Oh, I truly hate IE. It's slow, ugly and unbelievable inconvenient (should I use rant mode for statements like this one, Mike?)

I've been using Firefox for quite a long time now; it works like a charm and there's so many useful add-ons available to download.

I haven't experienced any problems while logging in, except for using the wrong password too many times in a row!

There is a new IE on trial now and about time, I find the present version is continually closing down and saying it is trying to find a solution. I have also tried "Chrome" which is incredibly fast but plays hell with your normal operation so I deleted it, I do use Firefox at times but it tries very hard to take over your PC, so I guess IE stays but can't wait for the new version.

Just caught up with this thread. Can't say that I have had any trouble with IE. I always make sure I have the latest version and as I said before I have to use it. Mike, as Abobe is free have you any other reasons for not using it.

*Plays Hell with your normal operation*...

I use Chrome - 99.9999999998% of the time I have no issues with it. Something else is *spooking* your *operation*...What that might be I honestly couldn't even guess.

@ Teddy; No reason other than I hate Adobe's pricing policies for other products like charging almost the same number of UK pounds as America pays dollars. Example Adobe Photoshop CS5, UK £606.90 = $923.70, USA $660.99 (prices are Amazon UK and USA) Amazon USA have been known to refuse orders from UK based addresses.

Adobe are not the only offenders in this rip off, Microsoft do it with Windoze.
    Cheers MIKE.
