Console Conversion Thread

I am in the process of converting a massive 1955 Kilgen 3-manual console to be used as a GrandOrgue or Hauptwerk VPO. I am sure many of you have done these conversions. Perhaps some of you have not. If it would be of benefit, over the next several weeks, I can put together a thread detailing the process of converting an original pipe organ console for use as a VPO.

Yes, I think it would be great to document your conversion project for others to read how and what you did. What MIDI boards are you considering using?

I will be using the HWCE2X, Bundle #1 from MIDI Gadgets Boutique. In my opinion, based on research and limited experience, they offer the most comprehensive, flexible and up-to-date hardware for doing console conversions.

Hi Jay,

Excellent choice :-) I'm involved in a Conn console conversion project that will be using the same board - It's a 3 manual that will be running HW and the Paramount 320 for a concert next Friday, so we'll be finalizing the wiring and computer configuration this weekend. I have another two consoles also in the middle of being midified that also use that board, so if you have questions, do ask.
