I was told by a hypnotist that I do not have a fear of flying. Apparently I have a fear of crashing. As far as bits falling off the plane are concerned, just the thought of it gets me heading for the bathroom.

Airplanes aren't dangerous, crashes are dangerous!![]()
You would not have air crashes if there were no Areoplanes, or balooons or airships or .................................
Oh dear...My first plane trip...And I remember it too...Aboard a Lockheed Constellation...Four Radial Piston Engines...And what a racket they set up![]()
I bet a few passengers found out that adrenalin is brown in this happening

I wouldn't want to have been on that plane.

My favourite part of flying is the take-off. What a rush! And I love a window seat.
My Dad said that the hardest part of flying was the landing.
''Music, I feel, should be emotional first and intellectual second.'' - Maurice Ravel
''The greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work.'' - Michael Jackson
At least with the landing you know you have arrived.

It was the Russians I believe who developed an aeroplane that flew just above the surface of land or water. It was a normal aircraft not a hovercraft and used ground effect to improve the power to drag ratio. I believe the optimum height was half the wingspan above the surface. I am not sure whether this would make me feel safer (not so far to fall) or more exposed ( nearer to things you could hit). Does anyone know if this technology is still being developed?
