My problem is that I never fancy eating anything I have cooked. And this business of geting everything ready at the same time so you are not waiting for the potatoes or gravy beats me. Greatest admiration for people who can.

Has anyone noticed a link between fast food outlets and obesity. Near to my office there are at least 10 different outlets, and the area is awash with overweight people. There was not this availability of food when I was young. Just two fish and chip shop in the village and they were only open in the evening (and not every evening). The goverment is talking about health warnings for fast food. Would these be displayed on the outside of the shops to discourage people going in? Would they include pictures of the sort displyed on ciggarette packets showing the effects of being very fat. Will they introduce a fast food tax to help fund the NHS? There is a strong link between obesity and diabetes, which is becomeing more and more prevelant and costs the country a fortune. There is also talk of refusing social security payments to those who can not work purely because they are overweight. Am I geting off the subject?

Put narrower doorways on fast food outlets so the obese can't get in?
But Mike, it might stop them geting out.

They'll crash through the door just to get their two big macs, fries and a diet coke...
Well, you see, the "diet" coke cancels out all the fat in the big macs and fries ...
It is silly though ... order all that horridly fattening stuff then insult it with a diet drink.![]()

I am becoming concerned about artificial sweetners. Being a diabetic I use them for my tea but I am starting to hear horror stories. Can anyone shed any light on this matter?

Not heard any, I use "Splenda" can't stand the taste of the saccharin or aspartane based ones, it might be a bit dearer, but if I've got to cut sugar I ain't going to spoil the taste.
Just heard the end of a news bulletin about some fat joker found dead in the loo wedged between bowl and wall I think he had been there 6 wks? what a poo eh
Shame on you for ruining a good cup of tea by adding sugar!
I let the tea brew for three minutes (only English Breakfast will do), no longer no less, then add a mere dash of milk (full cream, none of this lite shite). Then enjoy - the BEST most refreshing drink I had all day.
I'm not an atheist and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many different languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God.

Tea for me used to be with full cream mik and 3 sugars, now the 3 sugars have become 1 sugar and 2 sweetener tabs, coffee also gets the 1 sugar 2 sweeteners, but not milk, coffee whitener does for me. Never drink whisky, try not to drink water either, fishes pee in it!.
Cheers MIKE.
