I certainly do not want to undermine the work some people have done in sampling entire pipe organs; but from my perspective, where I am trying to bring life back to an orphaned pipe organ console, all I am looking for are a few specific stops. On the console I am converting, there is a Quintaton 16' stop. From what I have read, there is no real substitute for this stop. There are a few commercial sets that have a Quintaton, but I could not find one in the available free sets... And then I stumbled upon Jean-Paul's Quintaton 8' Stop Set for $2.44 (USD)! This is what I am looking for!!! I purchased the stop set immediately!
It would be nice if some of the owners of commercial sets would consider releasing individual stop sample sets at an affordable price so that those of us using GrandOrgue would have more access to the stops we need. I find it hard to shell out $200 for a commercial set when I am only looking for one or two stops in the collection. But I would certainly consider paying a few dollars for the specific stops I need to complete my console project!
