GO problem creating custom set (key cutoff)

Hi there, I'm trying to create a sample set for Grandorgue by recording my own wavs. I've managed to load them fine, however the sound doesn't cut off when I release the key, and it doesn't sustain when I keep the key pressed (when I hit the key it just plays the wav and finishes). Anybody have any idea how to address this problem? Thanks in advance.

I will watch the technical replies with interest, all I know is that somehow electronic markers are embedded in the .wav so that it behaves as a repeating loop until the key is released then initiates the termination of the .wav.

I noticed those too when looking at wavs of existing sample sets in Cool Edit Pro. Tried inserting some of my own but they didn't work when I tried it in GO.

Hi Jay,

The wave file needs three markers. The first two are the the type 'loop' and indicate the 'start' of the loop and the 'end' of the loop. The third is of the type 'marker' and indicates where the release portion of the wave begins.

I use various applications to create the loops, most recently Nick Appleton's Autoloop command line app, but I also use Zero-X Seamless Looper, and sometimes Extreme Sample converter or TWE (http://www.dontcrack.com/freeware/do...E-Wave-Editor/).

I then create the release markers in Sony Soundforge. You can also use Wavosaur, but be aware that Wavosaur has a bug that slightly degrades the sample every time you open it and save it (something to do with upsampling to 32-bit for audio editing and then downsampling to 16-bit again for saving...). Wavosaur will also allow you to place Loop points.

I have not used Cool Edit Pro for quite some time, but I assume that it should be able to handle loop and markers. Let me know if you need help with this,

Hi Jay !

I had the same problem with my first GO set I made.
One needs : wav file, Loop maker and the markers.
The markers do the trick of what you want.
As Graham said, do the loops with zeroX, or use the free version of Extreme Sample Converter = write down on paper the loop start and end points and then use TWE for save them (=set the loop points here with the numbers you wrote).
Then open these saved looped wavs into Wavosaur just for marking them : two marks : one in the very start and one near the end after loop ending piont and just before release of the sample.Save.
Then, when you finnish the whole stop (ie principal8) go as usual with creation of the odf for GO.

Hi all, thanks for the suggestions. Looking around I found a very simple to use application that does the job. It's called Pipe Loops Sample Looper. I suggest you all give it a look. It is very easy to use and does the job great. Finds loop points and releaase points automatically. A breeze to work with. Together, recording and trimming samples in Cool Edit pro and using Sample Looper I can get through a 4 octave stop in around 20 minutes. Then just load it up in GO, test each key, and you're good to go. Works like a charm

I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I actually purchased that software and I'm also using it with great success most of the time. It's one of the reasons I have for keeping the windows os on one of my computers!

The one thing that can be screwed up with it is where the release marker is placed, but I found out that by changing the view to release, one could actually drag the release marker to the appropriate position and save it.

One bad thing is that the application gives you the ability to preview the loop with a crossfade, but doesn't save the crossfade (or modify the wave data). For that you need some other software instead, and I can tell you that looping mixtures can sometimes be tricky...

Hi All

I have been using Zero-X Seamless Looper for some years and I have found it extremely useful for single loops. Unfortunately it seems that it is no longer available and the last version, I believe, is 1.51. I am looking at Pipeloops Looper now as the latest version of Hauptwerk can handle Multiple loops within the samples but I still use Zero-x for single loop work. As the cost of multiple loop organ sets are now beyond my reach, I am going to try creating my own versions from my current sample sets so Pipeloops Looper maybe the answer .
Slightly off topic - As I will probably be using GO more often now, I would like to be able to create my own GO textures for stops etc.(to share if wanted) and I appreciate this will mean I will have to get my head around GO at code level. Can anyone offer any help on this please?

I did the upgrades to the stop images from MyOrgan to GrandOrgue 0.2, so I can give you some pointers. What environment will you want to compile in (Windows or Linux?).
