BWV 729 In dulci jubilo for a beginner

    Hi all

Would anyone be able to advise if there is a way of cutting short the above piece - ie cutting and pasting as it were for Midnight Mass?
I'm a beginner really still but would love to have a go at playing this piece - but I'm not good enough to play it all yet.

    Any help/ info?

    thanks!

    Same here!

How ironic, I am also learning this piece for the first time! I am hardly a "beginner" though, in a week or two I could probably help you. It's hard to shorten because it's a hymn tune, and if you took parts out it would distort the very theme it's built on. One thing though, if it's purely an issue of length, you might consider taking out the eighth-note flurries, and just play the parts containing the theme. After all, that's the hardest part in my opinion anyway. Let me know if you have any problems
