What a great actor Pete Postlethwaite was, the film 'Brassed off' made me realise there was more to brass bands than the annual parade, I now appreciate the music much more particularly Canadian Brass and how many musicians received their early training with the local band.

Peter Postlethwaite (and I didn't have to look to know how to spell)
had a strange effect on me, when I first saw him in a movie.
The way he looked, the look in his eyes, the sound of his voice, made a deep impression.
I decided right away to memorize his name and keep an eye out for him.
Since then, I wished he had been chosen to play the squid captain in Pirates of the Caribbean,
that kind of role, or the pianist who played "Flight of the Bumblebee" in that Australian movie.
Watching that English brass band contest movie was good,
but I kept watching him, thinking if the whole society was more musical,
he'd be sitting in the corner behind a jazz, lounge piano.
And if I'm thinking I'd like to toss a bill in the tip jar, he must be more than just good.
Well said John, he did have that quality about him. He did so much but most people only remember him for "Brassed Off."
