    Hello Forum (Brahms or Bruckner)

Well, Hello! My favorite composers are Brahms, Vivaldi, Bach, Schumann, Chopin, and Handel. For the meanwhile at least. A question regarding one of my purchases: would you buy the solo piano music by Brahms which is 6 CD's or Bruckner's 1-9 Symphonies?

    Cheers

Hello, Lusaka and Teddy. I am from Canada, but originally Persian. Yes, I love classical music and my favorite era is the Romantic and Baroque period. No, I don't play an instrument but I do own a Santur which is an Middle-eastern instrument and am planning to teach myself some time soon. But you never answered my question in my original posting. I'm leaning more towards Brahms Solo Piano Music, but Bruckner has an excellent symphony collection. So which one would you pick?

    Hello Nima

Welcome to the forum, glad you could join us.

I would buy the Brahms, but both composers wrote good music.

    Hello Marval, Thank you.

Yes, I was leaning more towards Brahms as he is after all one my favorite composers. While using the symmetrical, complex counterpoints of Bach and generally Baroque music, he still manages to bring the formalism into the Romantic music of his day and age, wouldn't you agree?

After all, there is always time to buy Bruckner music as well.

Yes I agree with you about Brahms, as you say there is another time to buy Bruckner.

Just enjoy all the music you listen to.

Welcome Nima. I do hope you enkoy your time spend here among us and the forums. For me it would be the Brahms piano works as I am mainly a keyboardist( organ ): but do play string bass and viola.

Thank you. I have been in more of a "less is more" mood so Brahms is my choice as well. Although, my mood changes all the time and I might be listening to a symphony in a short while; but Brahms's Solo Piano is nothing one can easily pass by.

    Hi Nima,

Welcome to the forum. I'd go with the Brahms set.

Cheers, Mat. The Brahms set was delivered to me yesterday. I am rather enjoying his complete symphonies and haven't gotten around his solo piano just yet.

That's exactly what I would start with - the symphonies.

Glad you're enjoying th set, Nima. I'm sure I would have, too.
