St Walburge's Pipe Organ

Hello, i am new to this site but would like to ask for your help if possible. I am a volunteer from St Walburge's church Preston which has a pipe organ built by William Hill in 1853, unfortunately the organ is no longer in use due maintenance thats needs to be carried out (if you go to the National Pipe Organ Register on-line and type in the name of the church you will find all the information that is needed for organ)
we need volunteers who would like to come down to the church and have a look at the organ so that we know what is wrong with it, at the moment we have no money to have it looked at and without knowing what is wrong we can not apply for funding or raise the money ourselves, if you could please help we would be very grateful, but please only people that do know what they are doing as part of the damage was caused by a volunteer who said he knew about organs and began to remove parts and may have caused more damage, but if you could please get in contact with me,

It's a pleasure to welcome you to Magle International Music Forums.

It's a shame that such a historic organ has been left unmaintained for so many years. We have a number of members here who reside in your country ... and may live close enough to assist in your endeavor. This past summer I was in Ormskirk and got to play a wonderful organ in an Anglican parish there. Beautiful country and area.

For those interested, here's the NPOR link for the Church of St. Walburge in Preston. The survey date shows 1995 and the condition of the organ "unplayable", so it has been silent for at least 16 years or more. A real pitty, for sure.

Might it be possible to contact NPOR and ask if they have any detail as to the exact problem causing it to be unplayable?

Further, is there any way to do a few simple checks. like any signs of life from a pump, (NPOR says blowing is electric) or lighting that would show if power is available. Do any notes at all play?

If there is power to blow, is there any response visible or audible around the pipework when keys are pressed or stops pulled? The action is listed as TP (Tubular pneumatic?) so that will also need air pressure.

Well, we are trying, Chris ...

Unfortunately, none of us live close to that proximity - I was but 28 miles from that parish last summer while on holiday ... had I only known ... hindsight.

I'll try to find out if my pipe organ tech knows anyone in the UK or has any knowledge of it.

Hi,i will advised you to to do a google search with the name organ.when you find the manufacturer address either their website or postoffice address. send them the name of the organ, the year it was manufactured, and the serial number.im sure that they will be happy to hear from you.thanks
