Looks interesting but the price of 25 pounds plus another 6.00 in post and packaging puts me off buying, without seeing it first.

In line with what you say, Teddy, it's too bad it's not available via Amazon; then we could have samples of it before deciding whether or not it is worth the $30.00+ to purchase it.

Hi Gord, I am aware of the IAJRC, they have personally asked my father (the author) to give the lead speech, welcoming the IAJRC to Manchester, they said they can think of no-one better qualified, amazing. I have the full schedule of events here, and he will be speaking at 1.00-2.15pm on the opening Thursday. He was there at the time through all of the history in the book. It has taken him 4yrs of research and is not-for-profit,. hence the unavailability via Amazon. Don Rendell wrote the foreword and thinks it is stunning. All the top American stars of the time are featured, in Manchester.
Teddy, & White Knight- you can see more reviews/blogs on the book, just google "Keeper of the flame Bill Birch". There are already copies in the US, France, Austria, Germany and more.. Enjoy!

Hi Gord, I'll also be at the convention, so may see you there..I see Digby Fairweather's band are closing the Saturday night at the event, (Digby has a book and loves it. Quote: "One of the most beautiful books on British jazz I've seen; a genuine work of bibliographic art" - The Jazz Rag, spring 2011) Cheers for the positivity regarding my father's intro/speech too.

White Knight- I see you're in NYC,. Fred Cohen at the Jazz Record Center in NYC (@236W 26th St.) has had a copy since last Christmas, he was blown away by it, describing it as Amazing, and, A visual tour de force. Maybe you should pop in and see him.

    Enjoy.
