    Effect stops in GrandOrgue

    Hi!

    I don't know if this is already common knowledge, but for me this was a new discovery. It's possible to have effect stops like Motor sound, Cymbelstern or Vogelsang etc. in GrandOrgue connected to a displayed stop.

    Actually it's possible to connect any single .wav file to a stop so that the .wav file will play when the stop is active and not play when it's deactivated!

    This is how it's done. You must only have one pipe (wav file) in the stop. The stop should be placed in a manual where no other stop uses the same key. It's easiest to create a new manual, preferrably with the setting Displayed=N so that it's hidden and connect all the effect stops to that manual. Then in the stop section every effect stop must have different FirstAccessiblePipeLogicalKeyNumber so that every effect stop is connected to a key that's unique for that stop in that manual.

    Was that complicated? Anyway, it's working! I previously believed that such things could only be accomplished on a console and not in the GUI.

    Kind regards

    Lars P

    Hallo Lars

    Yes it can be done with good effect !
    Thanks for pointing out.

    I came uppon this three months before, as I got Roquemaure frJullien 1690 organ, where there's a rossignol (nightingale) stop. They use 1st C on upper manual where it's not used by any rank, also on original organ (which by the way uses two octaves for playing the pipes on recit and the keyboard is four octaves...?!).

    So, now we can have blower noise effects, zimbelstern and other stuff !!
    It remains to find a way to get draw stop effects in GO (as I do in jOrgan...).

    For those interested on how it is done on Roquemaure here it is :

    [Stop026]
    Name=ROSSIGNOL
    NumberOfLogicalPipes=001
    NumberOfAccessiblePipes=001
    FirstAccessiblePipeLogicalPipeNumber=001
    FirstAccessiblePipeLogicalKeyNumber=001
    Comments= Treble Section
    WindchestGroup=001
    Percussive=N
    DefaultToEngaged=N
    DisplayInInvertedState=N
    StopControlMIDIKeyNumber=
    ShortcutKey=
    DispDrawstopCol=4
    DispDrawstopRow=7
    DispLabelColour=Dark Cyan
    DispLabelFontSize=Normal
    Displayed=Y
    DispImageNum=2
    AmplitudeLevel=100
    DispKeyLabelOnLeft=Y
    Pipe001=.\Roquemaure\Rossignol\Nightingale.wav

    Plays nice !

    Have fun !
    Panos

    PS . A bit of warning. As I got also HW1.23 this effect doesn't work properly. It plays once and stops..... I GO though it stays on (loop) untill we close the stop.

    Lars,

    I had posted a couple of threads about using effects stops in GrandOrgue/MyOrgan...

    http://www.magle.dk/music-forums/114...ipe-organ.html

    http://www.magle.dk/music-forums/116...-wav-file.html

    I also created a circuit to use with a toe stud that turns these samples on and off...

    http://www.magle.dk/music-forums/114...n-control.html

    On the console I am currently converting, I intend to have a Zimbelstern, a Nightingale and a Glockenspiel effect stop.

    Good Luck!!!

    I always think of how our organ should have a zimbelstern you know! it adds a lot of effect to a pipe organ!
