Thumbs up New Earlwood Organ models for jOrgan !

    Hi to all !

Three new improved models of the well known Earlwood series are released ! One , two and three manual with pedals are the versions (1c, 3a, 3b)
They are downloadable from John Reimer's site (Sydney) here :

    http://home.exetel.com.au/reimerorga...Index_Page.htm

Latest jOrgan version 3.13 is needed to play these beauties.

John's work on the ranks is remarkable. He used his hybrid technique of part real, part synthesized, samples to reach a golden cut concerning quality and in the same time low memory as possible.

IMHO his stopped diapasson 8' is a milestone in private build/creation of a digital pipe.
New excellent reed ranks and many options on every users' need of playing a desired division on the desired physical keyboard.

Ok, many would say that the look is a bit poor, based on jOrgan's very basic & classical look, but as far as I know, John gives all of his energy and power on HQ sound. And he succeeds !
And as all these are open source, one can come and produce a special custom GUI designed exclussively for Earlwoods and send them to a higher level.
There are of course other people who like this poor-Spartan GUI and concentrate on music from their consoles, given that the model works and reacts well on their commands.
From this point of view Earlwoods are performing great and surely we got in our hands winners !

    Best and cheers !

Thank you Pano, for your nice remarks.

However, the link you have given will not deliver the new versions, just yet! Also, I do plan to make some minor corrections to the dispositions and soundfonts before they are accessible from my website.

However, for any who would like to try them already, the links below will work. Note that you need to have jOrgan version 3.13 (the latest) installed on your computers, as well as some MIDI keyboard or console connected to it, and preferably a good sound system.

The 1c is for 2-manual consoles, the 3a for 3-manual consoles, and the 3c provides the full resources of the Model 3, but with some playing enhancements (special transfer pistons and use of the top C on the manuals, if desired), to allow immediate use of the Positive deparatment when playing.

    1c http://home.exetel.com.au/reimerorga...ood_1c_313.zip

    3a http://home.exetel.com.au/reimerorga...ood_3a_313.zip

    3b http://home.exetel.com.au/reimerorga...ood_3b_313.zip

Yes, the appearance of the console needs to be upgraded, as jOrgan has moved on to bigger and better things, but my preoccupation has been with the sound. Perhaps before long I will learn how to improve the look, unless someone else like to upgrade it for me (hint, hint!).

    Oooops !
Sorry Analogicus... I didn't know. I got my version from jOrgan forum....

But my enthusiam was bigger than my attention it seems!
Thanks for providing the links for the Earlwood fans here, I'm waiting for the final versions !

Now for the appearance....I'm very tempted to try something, but I'll need help with two things from friends here :
    1. Some photos (close) of some Australian organ stops, some with closed, some with open at 3/4 angle or 4/5 better :-)
    2. Some photos of the keyboards, or close up console ones.
Then I can work with them (cut, turn around ect) and place them on the virtual console. I got a large selection of wooden background and labels I made, so maybe we can do a small face lift !
    David, can you help?

    Pano,

I would be very pleased with Paul's stopknobs on the St. Augustine's Hill, Norman & Beard. And wouldn't that be "Australian" enough for you? (OK, it was made in England). But the organ IS in Sydney. ;-)

There is already online some photos of the Hill, Norman and Beard at Lithgow, where I got some of the significant Swell samples for the Earlwood 1c, 3a and 3b. I would need to approach the photographer who put them online, but perhaps they would do?

    Hi all,

I have now made the corrections mentioned in my first post to this thread, and have uploaded to my website a single zip file containing the files for all three versions. In so doing I have deleted the three zip files already referred to in that post.

    Hi Analogicus !

St.Augustine is out of the question because is...... St.Augustine !!!!
Paul's work is superb, as he combined the static, light like, HW2 stop with another famous English organ's back-base stop to give extra natural movement.
I would like something better for Earlwoods, I have to look for this Lithgow organ !!!!

    Pano,

    Try here - http://www.ohta.org.au/organs/organs/LithgowStP.html

Mind you, the main case photo would need to be cropped to exclude the hat!

I really do like the St Augustine's stopknobs - but if you can come up with something better, I won't complain. ;-)

    Hi Analogicus,

    I got that !
There's one more organ in Lithgow :

    http://www.ohta.org.au/organs/organs/Hoskins.html

Good "stereo" position of the fascades !

Hmmm, both have Theater type tabs , don't think they are good for Earlwood. But we can take some close portions of the metal pipes for console decoration !
With the photographer's lisence of course and full credits - By the way both links have photos taken by the same photographer and they are splendid !!

I found something on Norwich Cathedral, but they are small and close to tan/yellow. No good. And no Australians !
    Quest continues....

    Pano,
What a magnificent building and organ cases they have there at the Hoskins in Lithgow!
And FYI, those cases were almost certainly built by Roberts in Adelaide, so there we have a true Australian builder for you. ;-)

    I don't!

It has to be stopknobs. And I do like Paul's St. Augustine's ones.

OK my friend, your wish, my order !

This week end I'll try an example with St.Agustine's stops and some close-ups of Hoskins' pipes. For your eyes only of course !
then you decide how to walk on :-)
