    "planking"

I'm always glad to learn new words. Today's new word for me is "planking". (noun, where someone lies horizontally in dangerous positions and then takes photos and boasts about it in social media web sites).

All very good until you fall off a 7 storey building an die ... although, as this does clean the gene-pool, can't be all that bad, eh?
I'm not an atheist and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many different languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God.
    —Albert Einstein.

Sadly, it's wiping out our late teen-early twenty lads (not all of whom are idiots, I imagine).

Sounds about on a par with tombstoning, leaping off cliffs into water - and hoping there is enough water covering the rocks.

Mike - sadly, young lads are fearless. I was, too, but not to the point of suicide.

I think this shot depicts tombstoning rather well, I know the chap who shot the sequence, he was having a picnic lunch when he caught the action.

Wouldn't it be better with just "waterboarding"?

I agree Teddy, plonking is a much more apt term. Why anyone would want to risk their lives planking and tombstoning is beyond me.

I'd only just found this thread and went online to learn more about this "phenomenon". Here's one of the clips I came up with. And, if you're on Facebook, you can join what appears to be a fan page of some sort. Yet another proof that human stupidity is limitless.

Youtube and facebook ARE used because it's about people communicating ... no point blaming a website. It's the idiots that share that are at fault, don't you think?

Oh dear Mat, what an idiot she is. I hope she did not have her Sunday roast in there at the time.
