Gord. Never heard that one before! A bit of tongue in cheek from Kenton I suspect. A lot of Ritter in there but not much from Stan. As a 'spanner in the works' piece from you I would say. 10/10. Performance wise though, maybe 4/10.

hi stu, i dont know what capitol records were thinking to put kenton and ritter together, they had many great vocalists under contract at the time.it is not a good ritter album, and also not a good kenton record.it was an experiment that failed. despite all that, i wouldnt part with this record.gord

Hi teddy - I was wondering what a phone had to do with Jazz,
then I realised that your spelling hasn't improved.
Seriously however I felt that your track on offer greatly overdid the
drums to the extent that Sonny couln't be heard properly which
lowers my rating to 7/10.
Hear are Dan Barrett and Harry Allen - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YApFV...yer_detailpage
John
Nice piece but only an 8 from me.

The piece that first introduced me to Cannonball, Still love it but the intro is a bit of a bore.
My only regret is that he plays alto instead of sophrano sax as in the original version

Just the intro? Okay...I rate it 6/10.
Let's play some blues:

Owch!! Yeah!!! Mat! Tough stuff! A down home blues! Some dirty tough tenor and a thoroughbred rhythm section. Them guys are taking no prisoners! 10/10 but really a 20/20 from me!
Teddy. A 5/10 for Cannonball here, sorry. I prefer him in a more forceful blowing mood.
John. A 6/10. I really enjoy the music of all of them guys but on this only so so. The bass is a mite under miked and the drummer seems to be speeding the tempo.
This one of the James Carter Trio is similar 'dirty' blues stuff. I caught them last summer at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival. Gerard Gibbs is on organ and Leonard King drums.
