Hi Latona,
What do you think of my latest enthusiasm for Deegie Adair?

Hi John, that sounds nice, good for some mellow moments. She obviously has a great touch at the piano. I'll check her out further.

A trumpet player i love, but who seldom gets much love these days, is Kenny Dorham...

From his Quiet Kenny LP, which is chock full of some great bop and ballads. And there's that man Art Taylor again, what a drummer.

Hi Lat'
That was good.
I have several hundred Jazz CDs but strangely, nothing by Kenny. (Which I now plan to
rectify). My usual trumpet listening tends to be the likes of Louis, Dizzie, Chet Baker, Miles
Davis and Shorty Rogers and further back Bix, Humph and Bunny Berigan.

Has anyone else got suggestions for me?

Hey, I like that Berigan cut, nice and mellow, Oldude.

I think i generally like my trumpeters a little more 'brass proud' though, which is why guys like Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard are amongst my very favourite musicians of all time. Have you ever heard any Fats Navarro? His was a fascinating and quite tragic story in its own right, but musically he was also one of the most stylistically influencial of the trumpeters to come up through the bop period of the '40s. He lived fast, died young, and left only a few sides of wax to remember his talents by -

That bright, vigourous tone and nimble style is like catnip for my ears, man.

A 10/10 twice for Fats Navarro.
I have a few Navarro stuff, Latona, and also the sides with the Tadd Dameron Quintet with Wardell Gray.
Wardell has also been a favourite of mine, although he left this world far too young.
He could do no wrong for me, with his lyrical laid back style.
Now, here comes the test!! I haven't been able to paste anything for quite a while, so here goes.
If nothing appears then there will be nothing to see, :) But!! with a bit of luck......

Well, I can't say I saw that coming, John . Glad you liked 'em though. You can check my thread with full-lenght jazz vids for more of their music.

Here's another experiment. My newest find straight from Japan. He doesn't even have a wiki page (except for a few lines in German)!
