Poor old chap, 'e's getting past it

Set out mid day to go to a model railway exhibition at Brockenhurst, put some liquid gold in the tank, got partway there and noticed a needle sitting a bit high on the gauge, slowed down a bit and put the heater fan on, headed for another filling station to check the radiator, no problem, level was fine.

Needle was now considerably higher so turned for home and took it very steady, pulled into a layby and switched off, then back on so just the fan would run. No change after 5 minutes, but strangely the heater was blowing cool, leaned forward to try tapping the gauge it was still right up the top by the F ?????? F!!! WTF???????

With bifocals at the distance I am from the dash, I was mixing up Fuel and Temp gauges D' OH!!!!!!!!!!!! So used to seeing both at or under half!
