Gord-yours of 23rd. I dont think it is generally realised what a great pianist Basie was..

teddy --yours of yesterday. That may be the best piece of Bass playing I have heard.

Mike - are you going to tell me how anyone can do that on 2 Guitars? Unbelievable.

Anyway here is some real cool alto. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4fUm...yer_detailpage

    Thanks Mike,
I'm not a lot wiser but the guy's technique sounds even more difficult than normal guitar playing.
Hi Gord, Great Big T trombone.
Hi teddy, you're gonna love this from Cannonball's Bossa Nova http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8czmc...yer_detailpage

    teddy,
I really liked that. Perhaps you'll persuade me that she is a Jazz singer after all.

Teddy, I had a listen to the two JM&HH tracks you posted. Quite honestly, I thought Joni's singing in both cases was laid-back, waaay too laid-back, IMO. Fortunately, there were Herbie and Wayne (and this other guy on soprano in the first track) to save the day.

I will have to look for MINGUS with Shorter on soprano.
