There are so many superb jazz pianists and Svensson is one of them.

One of my earliest favourite West Coast jazzmen was Shorty Rogers (and his Giants). The following sample lists many of the great musicians from his group.

hi john, love the shorty rogers, i have all his albums except for the very hard to find shorty rogers meets tarzan on mgm. there really is an album by that title, it is a soundtrack from about 1963 and is a latin big band. the pete jolly, a master piano craftsman at work, great stuff.

This piece is from1967, and represents what jazz is really capable of when it is played with passion, focus and sheer artistry.The effects that Nat Adderly coaxes/produces from his cornet still blows my mind--pun fully intended-- to this day. john, the art pepper is a jazz classic.regardingthe organ, i would say it qualifys as a jazz instrument. i am not a great lover of the organ in jazz, but i have a few records by some of the top stars like jimmy smith and wild bill davis that i occationally listen. the other question, that is probably latin, it has a bossa nova feel to it. gord

To my way of thinking--and listening--the organ is a beautiful instrument that doesn't belong in the jazz genre.
I would characterize the piece you posted as falling into the category of bossa nova lite {and very lite at that}. I would not consider it to be jazz music--IMHO, of course. This is jazz--at least to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8MLRuFCtF0

in 1958 this was a big hit, i was crazy about it,even bought the record. now when i listen to it today it sounds very corny. somebody please rate this for me and tell if they think is is excellant like i used to or if they think it is corny like i do today. gord
