    Hi teddy,
I dont think anyone who shares our type of "general" or as I call it "classic pop" music as well as Jazz who does not agree that Dianne Warwick was a top rate singer.
However in this thread I was trying to establish jazz pleasure moments, (and I dont think that Dianne qualifies - Does She? - am I missing something here?)
    Please let me know.

    Cheers John

Big T was never anything less than great.

But lets have some from another great who seems to get little mention these days - Benny Carter, who was equally good on alto and trumpet.

Here he is again (knocking on 90), wth the lovely pianist Tommy Flanagan

And again in his 70's on trumpet

Last I heard she was still alive at ninety odd.
As a jazz singer she took some beating

    Donna Lee by Miles Davis

Combining my love of Jazz with my love for Military Bands here is The Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy playing an arrangement of Miles Davis's "Donna Lee".

    Hi G.B.,
I'm not quite sure how I would charactise this as jazz, a type of swing perhaps.

    Cheers John

    Hi John,

I took it as a kind of Big Band Swing for want of a better catagory.

    Hi Gord,
    Guitars are special in Jazz

    Hi G.B.,
I guess thats the nearest we'll get. Its great when military bands do jazz. memories of Glen Miller?

One of my favourite clarinetists - Ken Peplowski.
