• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

New Tamburini 1959 free organ set for GrandOrgue

Hi to all GO fans !:)

There's a new kid on the block.
It's a Tamburini 1959 organ set made by Andrea Bonzi, which actually is its organist too !

Andrea has an excellent site and also has produced this set for Hauptwerk (full set commercial - demo with some basic stops downloadable)

Its GO version is free download (Thanks Andrea !) and fills a gap for modern organ sets in GrandOrgue.

The real organ -and GO set too- has just 5 or so ranks and all stops are derived from those ranks. It is a great economy work, considering this organ constructed just after WWII and Italy at the time was in need.

I enjoyed the set much. The classic Italian Principale 8 is present of course (I just love that sound...) and there is also a celesta stop. The rest is classic more or less. Nice Borduna 8 and Ripieno.
Clean sound, medium wet set.

I found some issues though, which in turn are all fixable.

1st there are many loop clicks and very audible. This is easy to fix with a good loop sofware and also remark the release points too.

2nd the celesta stop/rank is much detuned for my taste, unless it is the original like this of course. But I would try to "move" it a bit more in tune....

3rd the swell's midi channel..... it is set on ch5(?) and I had hard time to play this set with my setup. Changing channel in GO's swell to 5 didn't solved the problem. It must be fixed in the organ file.

So, to sum up, appart from those 3 issues the set is a beauty and thanks to Andrea we got a free Italian Organ set to enjoy.

Vist Andrea's site , there are many many goodies there !!
explore and discover ;)

Ghekorg7 and Andrea Bonzi,
Thanks a lot for this new sample set. :)

New organ sound banks in GO format or hauptwerk 1 format uncripted are very rare nowadays ...
