    Washington Cathedral's organ

Just checked on the latest about the damage to the National Cathedral in Wash., DC. They say no structural damage (WHEW!). Does anybody know the status of the main organ (and the smaller ones, too)?

I figure that some of the pipes were being hopped up and down off their holes, like at St. Mark's, Seattle (serious case damage on that one).

I am afraid that is not a big enough story for the news media to talk about. "All the news that fits we print".

Have not heard anything about the organ yet. Have had a few emails concerning the outside structures and penicles and few cracks.( no insurance for earthquakes and over a million dollars worth of damage so far )I watch the services every sunday on web cast live from there. the web site is :http://www.nationalcathedral.org. for updates. Looks as if some services will be canceled.. sure playing the organ with bass pedals may cause some problems from vibrations.... maybe they can use the organs and chapels besides the main nave...not sure.

Wasn't thinking about any news media. I was thinking in terms of the possibility of the organist(s) and/or curator being signed up on this site.

As far as I know they are not on this site. They have said structure is the problem.. no services being held this Sunday(8/28)..moved to another location and no webcast. There is a webcast at 11:00 EDT on Monday i.e. damage and cost of repair etc.... can access it at main page I mentioned above. I remember in Kansas when I was playing at a large church and we had bad storm came through I could not play the organ for a period of time as they were afraid of the vibrations affecting the structure integrity of the church. I am sure that is a big problem at the cathedral. If I hear/get email about the organ I will let you know.
