Free Legal down load "The Sixteen"

This is a free legal d/l for Gramophone subscribers it is a stunner I would suggest anyone with an interest in Classical music to subscribe to The Gramophone online Magazine (it is free)

    Gabrieli, Caldara, Monteverdi, Cavalli

The sacred choral music of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries from Venice, especially that written for the splendour of St Mark’s, has a unique style. From the rich and sonorous sound world of the Gabrielis to the airy zestfulnessof Caldara’s contemporary Vivaldi, this was music which dazzled the rest of Europe.

Thank you for the heads up on this download. Harry Christophers group are among the best in my opinion. I fondly remember their recording of Messiah which I had on LP a long time ago.

I have the video of them performing an anniversary performance of the Messiah in Dublin, and I agree they are a top ensemble

The Sixteen's all-Tallis disc from many years ago is still my most treasured choral disc, and one of the most treasured CDs in my collection. A superb, and superlative, group.
