    Thumbs up Physis Orchestra

    Hi everyone,

I owed to Old dude, Teddy, white knight , Mat and other friends to post on this sub forum something of my main work through the years as ethnic jazz composer and performer.

My main group was and still is "Physis Orchestra" started in 1980 as a small quartet with mixed nations personnel.
New breath and tutorial came in 1984 when I followed my teacher Tony Scott (clarinetist, composer, known for his band with Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker and more) who boosted our performance 1000% with his expertice and invaluable tutorials. Sadly I don't have any recording with our sessions with him, only people who came in "Half Note Jazz club, Athens" at the time may remember.... :-(

No record company/label accepted the works, so no CD/LP ect can be found, only Hellenic National Radio and there I recorded 9 projects with great success to devoted audience from 1983 to 1994 when the whole program stopped.

You can listen to something we did a couple of years back by downloading mp3 here as Karpathos.rar :

    http://www.panosvirtual.org/

Any kind of feedback welcome !
    Enjoy,

    Panos

I just re-checked clicking the above link... works on the spot. Downloaded Karpathos in 58secs with Firefox7/downThemAll.

So, I droped then in my...... drop box. Try here :

Hope will work.... if not, I'll try my Skydrive where all my jOrgan dispositions reside.

    Hurrah

After downloading a program which I eventually found free of charge I was able to listen to your music. It was worth the wait. I an envious of you being able to compose and play like that. Very enjoyable. A shame you were not able to get a recording contract but maybe there is some way for you to utilise the web. A few clips on Youtube as a teaser and then sell it on your own website? Anyway, keep posting to us please.

Surprised that there has not been more response to this thread. There is some lovely music, and it is from a forum member. Support your local sheriff, sorry composer

    Hello Teddy !

    THANKS !
It means much to me knowing that at least someone out there listened to Physis Orchestra.... Now you see why no label wants it :-)

I'll tell you another story : Back in 1987 I got a super demo (for then) in my hands and commended by Jan Garbarek himself I went straight away to ECM records in Munchen (= my all time dream on rec something there....) and gave hand in hand my tape.
Never got and answer, even a negative one. I believe this tape is still there somewhere deep in that office closet where they put it, at the moment I was leaving...

There are lots of this style (Jazz-ethnic) still resting in my drawers and unwanted. "Cemetery if Dreams" is one daring attempt to mix electric ethnic jazz quintet (tenor sax-el.gtr-piano/el.pno-el.fretlBass-drums) with symphonic orchestra. Composed in 1984... finally recorded in ...2003 he he. I can send it to you in private if you like to dive into !

Panos do not give up. It is possible others had the same problem opening your attachment (I had to download a RAR decoder, whatever that is). I really liked your music and I am sure others do, and will. We all known that getting a record contract is as much who you know and luck, as much as talent. Do not forget that The Beatles were turned down as well as The Spice Girls (sorry to mention the Spice Girls, this is a music forum). Keep posting, maybe in an easier format (Youtube?) and keep plugging away. You never know what will turn up. Post your music here so we can all hear it. And at the very least you will give us pleasure. And that has got to be worth a lot.

Thanks Teddy. I will not give up even if I'm at 49 now....... he he.

Mainly is who you know. I have great experience over the years, as I was most wanted as a keyboards player & synth programmer by all labels here but NEVER as composer - band leader... hmmmm - interesting :-D

I mainly upload music for the enjoyment of my friends, yes. This is the biggest worth. My organ essays uploaded here are one example. I will continue to, and yes I'll try YouTube.

By the way... I always compress my files for two reasons : 1.save memory & post faster (a 70MB file becomes 50 or so) 2.safety of the file it self.

RAR is a format like many others like zip Izark, 7z , ISO ect.
I used them all, mostly winrar, that's why you got a RAR file. > a Hauptwerk habbit of mine....
Now I turned to 7z (free and full workin' and fast !) which can do everything we need about and supports all formats. Also, I decided to compress my files in zip format, so to be easy for everyone to decompress with a simple windows OS.

OK Panos, I cracked it with zip software named "MyZip.zip" and was able to enjoy your "Chasing Dreams" piece.
Carry on the good work and please do send further samples of your work when you can find the time. (I think you must have a busy schedule)
    Cheers John
