Major Crash - Database restored from backup 5 days ago.

A few days ago, one of the hard disks running MIMF (as well as sister site Talk Classical) crashed and brought down the site with it. It was quickly replaced, but most unfortunately it had caused the System operating software to become corrupted. That should not be able to happen, but it did...

So, it was decided to restore from a backup, but as it appears from reading the logs the hard disk may have begun causing troubles on November 14th, it was necessary to use the backup from the 13th to avoid restoring errors from the backup.

I am very sorry for all the posts (and memberships) from the last 5 days that may have been lost, but it was the only way to ensure to forum will run safely and smoothly again.

    Kind regards,
    Frederik

Thank you Frederick. Things that should not happen quite often do. At least we can go and enjoy many more discussions hopefully with no further interference from the computer Gremlins.

    Dear Sir Frederik,

Thank you for letting us all have the privilege of being members on MIMF. It is an expenditure for you to host MIMF and Talk Classical - Therefore I find it fitting to say a big and hearty THANK YOU KIND SIR.............

I had noticed peculiar things happening such as cursor not visible and double/treble posting before crash but as I had been mucking about with 'Temp Int Files' put it down to something I had done on my PC, but good to know all is fixed. Thanks.

He he, not you my dear brother.... I meant our discussion on...... Dracula and other threads stuff :-)
Now, if we consider our discussion as a child/children (!).... then we are like parents who lost their own for the cause !!

    Br. Panos,

Of course, I know that you did not refer to me being keelhauled. Yes, our discussions were "aborted" and we are poorer for it but there was the "crash" and so something had to go - Good thing is IS that we can soon rediscover what was the spirit of our forum chats.

    Cheers,

Time is necessary Br. Colin - Those who are addled by "junior moments" like yours truly have inexorably tough times to get back into the "groove" - If you get my drift........
