John, if you're still interested in getting to know the latest jazz, here's one for you:

(from the States for a change)
I think I am basically '20s to '60s, but it is possible to find later music based on that era which is pretty good.
You've got to spend time hunting for it.
However some of the stuff you gents have been showing as "new" music as per my thread is pretty horrific
and there is no way I will be going there. It makes Charlie Parker sound OK.
OK john I will concede the 60's some good stuff came out of that.
Oh Mat, there is still some absolutely wonderful jazz played to day but played on my system

I dont quite know what to think of this fusion stuff.
I have heard much worse but it's not for me which reminds me of an old number "They're singing songs of love but not for me" now a true jazz man would be able to weave in and out of that improvising with a solid rhythm section and never leave you thinking "wtf was that all about"![]()
A wise man speaks because he has something to say a fool because he has to say something.
I guess my own intelligence should tell me - if you dont understand it, then you cannot enjoy it,
therefore dont play it.
That would never do Mat. Who would I have to argue with (or agree with),
and enlighten me with their knowledge of Polish jazz.
Don' leave us Mat. Even if one does not like all the music one hears, it is still educational
