    National College of Music, London

Greetings from the UK. May I inform you about the existence of the National College of Music, London? I'm involved with the organisation and although the college has been around since 1894, no-one seems to know of its existence! It offers a Graded system of certificates (1 to 8) and also the diploma exams of Associate, Licentiate and Fellow. It's an accredited college, receiving its accreditation in 1994, the college's centenary. Our website is rather basic, I fear, but have a look anyway if you're interested: it's www.nat-col-music.org.uk
Look forward to talking with a few in due course.

Gareth, it is quite normal to start a discussion with one self - I do it all the time .... It makes it so much easier to reach an agreement on all subjects hahahaha....

Gareth: You spotted it - as I realised people would as soon as I did so! (Forgot that my name would appear! Durrr!) But do spread the word about the NCM: itlooks to be quite a good little outfit. I have friends who've used it - and been quite impressed. They examine all over the world, not just London.

There I go again! I'm just trying to get a bit of interest going, but trying hard not to breach the advertising regs! I don't really go round chatting in forums with myself!! (Often.)

Thanks for your interest, Underscore. It's only really an examination board, not a college as such. It does offer diplomas and grade exams, though, so you might be interested in doing one of them ...? Associate, Licentiate or Fellow, perhaps. I don't know what your ability is, but assuming you're a fine musician, which I'm sure you are, the Fellowship diploma would require a set programme, on any instrument, of three contrasting pieces. It would set you back £250, too, but that would give you a nice piece of paper - and the right to wear a very decent set of academic dress!

Very interesting Salahdog ... I've sent the college some questions on e-mail with regards to the exams.
    Thanks for the link.
