The Chronicles of Narnia surely provoke a side of us which often lays dormant (out of sight, out of mind) but resonates throughout human history. The noble Aslan, for example, what dynamic does Aslan import to the epic? Does Aslan represent a *force for good* - something that is Eternal - not Temporal?

word has it is pretty much based upon christianity.. a clear reference to Christ.

Anyhow.. not that is a thing that I say is a bad thing. Not that I'm religious or anything.. but I do like the fact that he represent the fact that you shall stand up for your values.. even if it may course you to be harsh in your judgement. It's about being true to what you stand for and the will to sacrifice if needed for the grader course..

I think that christianity has had a sort of bad influence on our culture, in a way that it has weakened our judgement.. actually making it easier for us to succumb into evil.

As long as we remorse right.. religion becoming a tool of power.. instead of the philosophy in it, that it actually represent. Well.. man has an ability to twist almost about everything. Most people are like lamb.. letting their lord be their shepherd which results in them letting him/faith/church take the guidance, instead of stepping up where need be.

Humanism is sensible.. but it often gets too much.. and we step away from the path that is sensible and our cultures become gutless or our wills gets dictated by people using faith for their own agenda..

anyhow.. rant.

Yeah.. force of good.. I agree. Standing by your own judgement and sacrife for what you truly believe is right.. that is indeed nobility. I like that some films teach us that.. man oftens forget.. and unfortunately most people propably only see it is as entertainment and forgets the minute they walk out of the cinema..

Lewis stated that Aslan indeed represented Jesus Christ. Can't find the quote right now but I've read it. I, for one, have seen enough of man's capabilities to conclude our hopes cannot be answered by the efforts of mankind. We're just too good at, and insistent at, being stinkers. That has not changed as we have plumbed the depths of modernity. With every noble advance we take two steps back into the darkness. Embrace the Light.

I too, have seen man's capabilities and how often they fall far short of the mark. Yea, even the best intentions can go horribly awry. Many get so discouraged and pessimistic after they have experienced human weakness. I tend to look at it this way: If you don't like what you're seeing, do something about it - be a part of the solution, not the problem - ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. Bottom line: Don't just sit around - get up off your duff and do something.

As Priest mentioned, it was obvious a direct comparison to Christ. Notice how Aslan sacrificed himself for the good of "mankind", then was resurrected to lead his forces into battle? I honestly don't mind having good themes in movies these days. I think that it's better for our children to learn "Christian" values over the drugs, gore, and sex portrayed in almost every movie currently in theaters... Or the content in video games, for that matter.
