    How to fix the economy

This applies to the UK, I'm not too sure of some of the suggestions but the general idea has some merit and I'm sure other countries could probably perform a similar cure.

    Dear Mr. Cameron,

Please find below a suggestion for fixing the UK’s economy.

Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following, which you could call The Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are approximately 10 million people in the work force aged over 50.

Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

    1) They MUST retire.
Ten million job openings - Unemployment fixed

    2) They MUST buy a new British car.
Ten million cars ordered - Car Industry fixed

(but surely all the British car makers are now either Japanese or German owned)

    3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -
    Housing Crisis fixed

    4) They MUST send their kids to school/college/university -
    Crime Rate fixed

(doubt that too, would just give us better educated thugs and thieves)

    5) They MUST buy £100 worth of alcohol/tobacco per week .....
And there's your money back in duty/tax etc.

(not too sure I like this one! likely to cause a drastic rise in health care costs! Also I went through the stop smoking trauma some years ago)

Surely it can't get any simpler than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all Members of Parliament repay their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances

For the USA maybe a massive tax on lawyers' fees for frivolous blame claims would be all that is required, you could then afford a decent health scheme and thus decimate the medical insurance leeches
    Cheers MIKE.

Well done Mike, problem solved. It has got to be better than anything our government have planned.

In regards to the USA - Get rid of Tort Law and you'll have put 75% of all the lawyers out of work and into something more useful.

My solution is to close all the Law Schools for 35 years and let natural attrition take care of the problem. As Shakespeare wrote in Henry The Sixth "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers".

You know what they say: What do you call ten thousand lawyers at the bottom of a lake?

    A Good Beginning.............
