    Christ Church, Spitalfields

Does anybody know how far along Wm. Drake is on the restoration of the 1735 Bridge at Christ Church, Spitalfields?

This link gives some information. It appears to be a larger job than anticipated.

I would not hold your breath regarding the re-commissioning of the Richard Bridge organ in Christ Church, Spitalfields.

I quote from a post which appeared on another (English) board a short while ago:

'... At any rate, the authorities which own the church ... have made it clear since Drake removed the organ about ten years ago that they have no interest in seeing it returned. Despite the rather nebulous suggestion that it would eventually be restored (the website says exactly what it did in 2002), it won't happen, it will never speak again, it has effectively ceased to exist. It's just a collection of scrap pipework in a shed in south Devon. I hope someone buys the pipework off Drake and builds something decent around it.'

From other snippets I have heard, I am rather concerned that the information contained in the quote above may well be accurate - at least to an extent.

Yeah, no kidding. This is, er was(?), one of the most important organs in the UK. At the time it was built, it was the largest and most tonally advanced British organ. People just don't seem to give a s*** about history anymore. I hope it gets rescued.

Sorry about the asterisks. I'm angry and am honestly speaking my mind.
