Things in to days society that annoy you?

Regarding Radio and TV one thing that really gets me going is someone cutting off mid stream with the inevitable "yeh" and leaving it at that e.g.
A person being interviewed is asked a question and answers:
"Well the main point is very important let me explain, the total amount of funds set aside for this project is well and truly above that recommended by the steering committee so in the interest of prudent fiscal management we must never loose sight of the fact that if it er er yeh…………………………yeh"

And that’s it????
Is this only in NZ or does it happen elsewhere?

Yup ... here in the Old Pueblo, our roads are in a sad state of dis-repair. 20 years ago, the city fathers said we need to do something about this ... and did nothing ... 10 years later, the same sales pitch "we need to do something about this before it's too late."

Well, it's not 10 more years later and ... you guessed it, nothing has been done and the price tag has risen to $900 Million (USD), which of course, the city doesn't have now. They had the funds 20 years ago ... the same sales pitch ... and committee reports of this and that year after year ... blah blah blah blah blah, ad naseum.

I find it quite amusing (more like: :banghead:) that we do have funding ($103 Million) for an electric street car that will run a distance of 4 miles, on a route which city buses currently traverse mostly empty. Seems our priorities are totally mis-aligned.

Maybe you could sub contrtact Sherriff Joe Apraio?
Regards television, repeating everything after every commercial break. Do they think we are morons, or do they not have enough material to actually fill an hour?

My guess is that it means they can make a much shorter programme thus costing less = more profit.

I would also suggest that they anticipate a fairly poor memory retention by the majority of couch potatoes watching.

Personally I don't have a problem with it as I can always find something better to do than watch the goggle box, although I do sometimes get reduced to reading Teddy's posts.

Dishonest merchants is what makes me mad. If you go to buy something you get the
same old song and dance. Or the clerk looks up at you and says,"I can't do that!".
The last time the cable company showed up to replace another internet box the poor
guy didn't have any idea how to hook it up and I had to show him. Also he didn't
understand how wi-fi works. So I hooked it up myself in front of him and got better
results on it.

Along those same lines ... the salesman's pitch adds "Oh yes, I have this product at home and really love it" trying to add credence to the purchase.
That line is so old and overused that we all know it's rubbish anymore, but the bosses keep telling sales people to use it. :banghead:

I hear you, Judy.

Two years ago my ISP s... me over. They called and offered me a great deal, which seemed OK at the time, so I took it. Not long after that did it turn out that they can't technically provide the service they had offered. Apparently, I was 'out of their range'. Why didn't they check that first?? :banghead:

It took about two months of phone calls (each time I had to explain my situation over again as I never spoke with the same person) and a couple of trips to their HQ to sign some paperwork to straighten it all out. Yup, that was pretty annoying.

Politicians, who when asked a straight forward question, then talk ******** for ten minutes. When they same question is asked again, as a proper answer has not been given, they do exactly the same again.

People who start to tell you something, then go all round the houses and never actually tell you what it was.

I loathe, detest, and despise the reps who tie up major infrastructure investments so that when the infrastructure/building is built it coincides with their term in office - And then they want their name on it. I remember fmr. Gov. Ben Cayetano in Hawaii who wanted the H-3 Freeway to be named in his honor. There became such a backlash from the constituency - It was finally named after the chief engineer who envisioned it.

You have people here who are ignorant and proud of it! I find people to be so
annoying when you ask them to figure out something and they can't because
of being stupid. I thought I was dumb after I dropped out of college but I find
young girls who drop out of high school who can't read or nothing. I also feel
sorry for people like that too. Even though they are the ones who have all the
kids and I never could do that and I have more knowledge. So what gives?

Drivers who have no idea how to use their indicators properly, or negotiate a roundabout correctly. Both are simply if you only learn the rules. Drive by shootings should be compulsory for both offenses.

The majority of those you mention Teddy, drive BMW, Merc, Audi or Subaru, they also consider themselves immune to parking restrictions (especially disabled only parking) and speed limits, ignore signs like "No Right turn Except for buses" and lane markings.

Perhaps this advanced model speed camera could be adapted?

On the contrary Mike, the worst offenders tend to drive old bangers or little hatchbacks. They are the ones I would target
