Beware, I'm Back

Since a set of circumstances precluded my activity on the forum for a few weeks perhaps an explanation is in order. We have been very busy on several fronts. Fortunately our health has been good but three of our grand-children are facing what appears to be the dissolution of their marriages so we have been concerned and involved with them where possible, and will continue to be as we can.

Secondly Muriel decided that she wanted to attend the convention of an organization in which she has been heavily involved for more than 40 years; to the point where she has served as an officer in the National organization. The organization is comprised of 30,000 ladies from every U. S. state and Canada; our local branch has over 300 members and over the years the organization has raised over 3 Million Dollars for a group of 21 Children’s Hospitals providing care without regard to race or creed at no cost to the families for children who have disabilities or suffered serious burns. We anticipate that around 3,000 members will attend the convention to be held in Portland Oregon.
She then decided that I should go with her, so we have been busy making arrangements for hotel, meals and activities while we are there. There are tours planned for the husbands who go and banquets and activities in the evening so I will not have time be bored, and hop to make some new friends. We will be there from June 8 to June 16 which is not far off. I have been twice previously and am looking forward to it. She also hopes to go next year for the group’s 100 anniversary in Texas.

And finally I was faced with the demise of my old but trusty computer and had to look for a replacement. I finally settled on an HP and am still trying to transfer my previous files to the new one. My new toy runs Windows 7 and has 4 GB SDRAM and a 1 Tetrabyte memory (plenty of room for music) and a 20 inch LED monitor.
It has one peculiarity, although purchased from a retail store in the US when I fired it up it gave me links to Amazon UK and EBay UK. Also in order to type the @ sign I have to use the double quotes key and the @key gives me double quotes. Oh well, I remember most of the time. The dollar sign key works correctly but the number sign key gives me £. Fun! But live should be hopefully easier and I should soon be back in full force. So be warned!.

Always great to see people return to the flock ... Welcome home, Rob :)

As to the keyboard issue with your PC, I think there are settings within Win 7 to change the language for keyboards:
Open your Control Panel >> Region and Language >> Administrative tab >> Change System Locale (features a pull down list).

Hope that helps :)

Thank you Lars, I will check that out. Although there are occasions when having the "£" sign available is convenient.

Rob, if you use the "Character Map" feature, that sign (£) can be done by Alt+0163 too.
