Saw this on a photography site
What a load of cobblers on the part of the council! (CRB - criminal record check)*** local council have gone all out mental regarding photography in the town centre this year. At the top is that old chestnut about it being against the law to take a photo when there's a child present, but they threw all manner of wonderful other bits about how the law is different for someone who decides in advance to go take a photo, and someone who just takes one on the spur of the moment. Also, if you want to take a photo of some interesting old building, or a pigeon doing something funny, then you also require public liability insurance and a CRB check.
Perhaps the least funny bit was when I was told that if I wanted to take a photo of something, I needed to check in at the town hall first and notify them what I would be taking pictures of, and I'm not to do it between the hours of 9:30 - 5:00 on Monday - Saturday. Seriously.
