    Just out of curiousity

I wanted to get some public opinions on our half time music for this year. We're doing a movie theme, actually the title of the show is "A Knight at the Movies" (knight is done on purpose as we are the Knights).

So we're going to open with the 21st Century Fox Theme just for the effect. It's only like twenty seconds of music. Then it'll be The Imperial March which is of course Darth Vader's theme. Our middle movement is going to be the end of "Up is Down" from the Pirates of the Carriabbean: At World's End into an abridged version of I See Dead People in Boats which in the movie follows Up is Down anyways. And we're going to close with You Can't Stop the Beat from Hairspray.

I've already got the show arranged, and I was wondering what we can expect all season long with the music the band has chosen? See, part of my job as the band director is that I have to not only arrange the music, but I kinda have to get a reading for the crowd's reaction to the music. Also, do you like the vocals in You Can't Stop the Beat by UMass? I can't really decide if I want to try and mic someone to do the vocals, or just let the 1st/3rd trumpets carry it.

sounds good...I would like the vocals my self to "You Can't Stop the Beat" as I can see alot of sing -a-long and hand clapping with this one... One of my favorites of the Musial.

    I provided links, though!

I think the general public should like it. Our drill writer, Miss Patty, has already got some basic concept drill drawn up. It's just the shapes on paper, not dotted out like the actual show will be. I can say for a fact she's got some complicated things planned, but I'm confident in the band's ability to perform up to our standard of excellence.

I'm surprised you didn't mention that knight movie with Heath Ledger, a wannabe jouster and knight,
where they used modern rock for the soundtrack.
That was a little disconcerting at first, until you got used to it.

I'm sure it would give you ideas and a different feel for stadium sing-a-longs.
"We will, we will rock you". Yeah, it sounds so, so, up to your standard of excellence.

"Knight and Day" you mean? I suggested it, but the band choose otherwise. See, for the marching band, I don't pick the music. I let the band make a lot of the decisions. I basically hand them a list of music and say ok pick the the half time. I find that with them involved making the decisions for the band, they are more enthusiastic about going to practice and everything like that. And obviously, I'm doing something correct. When I started here, the band had 75 people who could barely march in a straight line. I now have 310 people on the roster for this year, and are a championship band.

Something tells me the capital P that rhymes with Pool means practice for you.

Lots of pop hits went through a marching band percussion phase, easy hits for you to do.
