Odd uses for manuscript paper

Hello,

Here's a rather silly question that needs your imput.

What composer's wife used his old manuscript pages to line her baking sheets and curl her hair?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Erin

Hmmm... that's a toughy, but whoever's wife did, then she REALLY didn't care for his work. Maybe even she was trying to send a message to him to stop playing/composing and pay attention to her? Lol, who knows. But, back in those times, composing was a big money maker, IF done correctly and IF the people liked his work. If you have no hits, you're broke. Tough life, guess the wife didn't care much eh?

It was Haydn's wife who used her husband's manuscripts as curling paper. At first he was in love with her sister, but they never married because she went into a convent. The broken-hearted Haydn married the older sister, who cared nothing for his music. He spent most of his life separated from her. There is a story that Haydn later fell in love with another woman, but his wife would not grant him a divorce so he could marry. Not sure if that is true.

Can you tell I really love Haydn? Wish I would've lived back then. I'd have married him and treated him and his compositions much better than his wife did! :)
