it's a group of string instruments that usually plays folk music but can play classical as well. from what i recall it was only introduced to the Philippines but since it was adapted flawlessly it seemed that it originated from the Philippines.

That was very interesting, and the music was lovely.

    Thank you

You're welcome. I was looking for others played by Mr. Espejo like The Four Seasons but I guess they were not recorded. Besides the recorded ones at YouTube were takes from cellphones, I believe. I was able to witness them (with little kids as young as 8) personally at Villa Escudero (a very fine resort that captures the ambiance of Philippine culture; also the most collection of antiques and artifacts in the whole archipelago; life-sized dioramas were built by my stepdad that includes collection of real stuffed jungle animals; they even have a skeleton of a whale and a shrunken head as small as my fist) in Tiaong, Quezon. If you come here, I highly recommend going there. I'd like to go back there but I can't afford it.

Let's see, I've got an old locally made acoustic upright piano (tuned A = 437 Hz), a Korg X5 (this is currently for sale), a classical guitar (in standard tuning), an electric guitar and steel-string guitar (all tuned G2, D3, A3, E4, B4, F#5), plastic soprano and alto recorders, a 3-octave melodica, and my old computer loaded with softsynths, samples, and sequencing/notation software.

We used to use a comb for music when we were kids!

    Ha ha, Intet-at-tabe,

At least you never have to worry about the neighbors complaining when you practice.
I remember those days too of the comb and wax paper - a poor mans kazoo of sorts

Does a candy wrapper count? I can play one octave.

Exactly sir, and you may play as loud as you wish for doing whirls on the 5 toms in front of me, no one will ever know. But it sounded like Steve Gadd or Dave Weckl. At one time, I even did "The Song Is You" by the Standards Trio, with brother Jack DeJohnette on the drums, and suddenly, while looking around in my living room the "audience" applauded me. Until I realised it was my turntable playing the live album

Thank you for the word kazoo, my old and tired brain (Yes, I do have one) out of ordinary function, couldnīt remember - kazoo. But I still have the comb always with me in my back pocket of the trousers. You never know when the chance comes to - sit in on a set
    Best regards,

C5Says - A "candy wrapper" is for amateurs, you should know this .

In 1972, I did an improvisation while Maria Callas was in Copenhagen to the song: The barber from Sevilla. She asked me afterwards to tour with her.

It has to be wax paper on the comb. Besides 1 octave is nothing at all, any substitute on the comb can do this, I did in the best of my days 5 - easily rehearsing.
    Best regards,

I just have to catch my breath every measure.

Well, thatīs much better than the blasfemy you entered about the "candy wrapper".

    Even combs have emotions .

Cupped hands on the other hand (sorry hands) are Okay. I do feel with you about catching the breath though. To blow with cupped hands you need the lungs of an elephant, no identical comparison to you C5says as a person of huge improvised humor and wisdom.
