    Conacher Organs

    Hi all

Can you advise if Conacher organs are still in business? Also their swell and choir boxes are painted a strange green colour. I'm trying to renovate my organ and spruce it up - is it a good idea to paint the outside of swell and choir boxes to make them look better and if this is ok then how do I get a colour match?

I know this is a bit vague and strange but wondered if anyone knew!!

    thanks
    Kevin

As far as I know, they are. but probably only undertaking restorations, now. Here is a link to the only web page I can find on them: http://www.pcuk.net/musiclink.co.uk/conacher/index.html

However, I am not sure exactly how closely related this firm is to 'The Old Firm' of Peter Conacher. It is possible that another organ builder simply purchased the name and the goodwill of the business - as has happened with JW Walker and Henry Willis.

With regard to the expression boxes; I should not worry about this. Paint them matte black on the outside and gloss white inside - for practical reasons. Would I be correct to assume that the Swell and Choir boxes are not too visible from the outside of the instrument?

To the administration team: just out of interest, why does the 'edit' facility disappear on a post, after a day or so? Occasionally, I wish to add or correct something. It is somewhat inconvenient not to be able to do so after twenty-four hours or so....

Is there any possibility of this being altered, please?

    Thank you.

    Hi Sean,

Members can only edit posts within a 12 hour window of it being submitted. After that 12 hours window has lapsed, you can send changes to any staff member via PM and we will be more than happy to insert the corrections/edits.

Although the setting can be changed, it would also allow spammers to alter their postings, erasing 'evidence' we need to keep in the database in order to report their 'activity' to international authorities and databases.

Thank you, Lars. This makes perfect sense - I can see the need for this precaution.
