    video about Cavaillé-Coll

I've bought a set of DVDs called The Genius of Cavaillé-Coll.
1 DVD presents the life of CC, 2 others contain organ music played on CC organs. The set contains further 2 CDs with organ music.

In spite of the high price (BP 68,50 + pp) I find this set worth it.

You can check further details @ www.fuguestatefilms.co.uk

I also purchased this a few weeks ago. I can recommend it highly. The DVDs are well thought-out and the photography and sound quality are excellent. With regard to the improvisations featured on these discs, the best, by far, are those of Pierre Pincemaille (Organiste Titulaire, la Cathédrale de S. Denis, Paris). apart from having the most difficult instrument to manage, by a considerable margin, he produces pieces which are superior to those of either Roth (S. Sulpice) or Latry (Nôtre-Dame de Paris).

Also supplied is an eighty-page booklet, with stop-lists, photographs and details of the organs and performers featured in the films.

I fully agree what concerns Pierre Pincemaille.

I attended various perfomances of him here in Germany (Köln cathedral, Altenberg cathedral, Bonn) and also met him in person several times. My opinion: He is one of the very best improvisors worldwide. I admire him for his genius.

I improvise a lot myself, and I know how difficult that is. I have uploaded some of my audio files on www.contrebombarde.com. You can find my files browsing for lupo9696. The latest are Leo's Blues (some jazz) and Toccata furiosa, both played on Hauptwerk organ Hereford Cathedral (UK).
