• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

Old HW1/GO sets and case sensitive systems

Hi everyone,

Is there any friend who solved the log warning in latest GO 1261 that for example 060-c is not compatible with case sensitive systems?

There are many older HW1/MO/GOo1-o2 compatible sets that give this log warning in new GO builds.

Playing them with the older software is not a solution as we cannot benefit from new features !

I don't have issue in playing, as even with the log warning, set is loaded OK, plays OK and can use the ignore pitch and get Aaron temperament for example working OK.
Of course new GO builds ask if I want import older GO versions settings as well. Click OK, no issues on this.

What to do to make them compatible ?

I tried opening with editor, and re-save them, no cure.
Maybe open with editor, up-sample to 24/48000, re-name ?
Just re-name (embedding pitch info) in another folder, like C3 and save and then re-name again as 060-C ?

Best

Hi!

It should work just to rename the file, or change the case in the odf pipe path to exactly match what the file name is. Basically the issue is that the case in odf and filename should match to make certain that the sampleset will load on all platforms.

I've never encountered such a warning as on Linux the load will rather fail with a file not found since the file system is case sensitive, but every time it happened a simple rename worked just fine to be able to load the sampleset.

Kind regards

Please note, that changing the case will likely not work on Windows. You need to rename it to a different filename first.

Is this true also for a NTFS file system, I thought it was only on FAT? Well, I'm certainly not so informed on Windows behavioural problems anymore... since I very rarely encounter them first hand!

Kind regards

I use Windows 7 and have encountered this case sensitivity warning message before. I believe in the past I have fixed the problem both via odf changes and/or file name changes. I don't ever remember having to use an intermediary file name. I could be wrong here as I'm going on memory, but I don't think it was an issue (with NTFS at least).

OK,

Re-saving with the same name didn't work.

what I did : 060-C.wav opened with Sony, moved a bit the cue marker and replaced as it was so the save icon will be on. I clicked save. No work when loading. Again wav file 060-C not compatible with case sensitive systems.

So, I'll save it with a different name as C3.wav , change the odf entry for this only (ie Pipe026=.\P8\C3.wav instead Pipe026=.\P8\060-C.wav) and see what happens and post back with the result !

OK, RESULTS - SUCCESS.

Opened 084-C.wav in Sony.
Saved as - Renamed - C5.wav
Corrected entry on odf :
Pipe084=.\cornetrecit\C5.wav
Saved odf

opened set in GO 1261 x64
No log warning about \cornetrecit\C5.wav
Sound OK no issues.
:)

Options :
1.Keep older HW1 odf for older software, create new one with new/renamed wav files where needed, for GO 0.3.1.1261 and above.
2. Delete older 084-C.wav and just rename the new C5.wav into 084-C.wav again, so to not touch the odf (if no other log error warnings ect are there).

At least for win7 (here) case is closed, issue (log warning) solved.
Thank you all !!!
